We embrace books about a vast variety of cultures and beliefs in our home because I want my children to grow up understanding and celebrating all the beauty, diversity and commonalities that they share in this world with so many different people. However, when it comes to books about beliefs and religious principles our Christian books are extra special to us because our belief in Jesus Christ runs strong and is precious to us.

My beliefs have brought me so much joy in my life and I love finding beautiful books that help me share this with my children. Below are some of our favorite Christian books that we enjoy from our home library. This selection includes books that are pretty nondenominational and generic as far as Christian books go. However, I have also have a good tip to try if you are extra particular about the text in religious books. When I find a Christian book that has vocabulary that is a tad off from what we specifically believe, but I love and find value in for other reasons, I simply edit it to reflect what we believe as I read it aloud. Works for us!
“For the Beauty of the Earth” by Folliot S. Pierpoint and Lucy Fleming- This is a beautifully illustrated version of the classic hymn. I love how beautiful it is and that you can sing along.
“I Am a Child of God” by Greg Olsen, Wendy and Michael Nelson- This book celebrates the meaning behind the belief that we are all children of God. Each page has a beautiful illustration accompanied with a statement that matches. Love this one!
“Loved: The Lord’s Prayer” by Sally Lloyd-Jones and Jago- This board book is lovely. It has darling illustrations of children throughout and the text expresses God’s love for each one of his children and how he always cares and is aware.
“Jesus Calling for Little Ones” by Sarah Young and Antonia Woodard- This board book is written as if the Savior is talking to the reader. It is full of affirmations of love and speaks of how the Savior is always there for us to help and guide us.
“The Tale of the Three Trees” by Angela Elwell Hunt and Tim Jonke- This classic folktale is a particular favorite of mine. It tells the story of three trees and how each one plays a critical part in Jesus’ life from the animal feeder that held him as a baby to the cross.
“I Know that My Savior Loves Me” by Simon Dewey, Tami Jeppson Creamer and Debena A Bell- This is another book that is the illustrated lyrics to a beautiful song about the Savior’s love. The piano music is included in the back and it is a great book to sing along too.
“Jesus Loves Me” by Laura Logan- Yet another illustrated hymn! (I obviously love those!) This board book is the sweetest and I have read/sung it a million times with my children. It’s a definite favorite.
“He Is Risen: Rocks Tell the Story of Easter” by Zondervan and Patti Rokus – In this stunning and book Patti Rokus tells the story of the Savior’s death and resurrection through illustrations made from rocks. The text is simple and paired with the illustrations it is so impactful.
“The World is Awake” by Linsey Davis, Lucy Fleming and Joseph Bottom- In this delightful book a family spends a day enjoying and appreciating all of God’s creations. It is a celebration of all our many blessings and is fun to read.
“Found: Psalm 23” by Sally Lloyd-Jones and Jago- This board book is based off of the scripture Psalm 23 and is wonderfully done. I adore the loving illustrations of the Shepherd and sheep.
“Silent Night” by Lara Hawthorne- Of course I had to include a Nativity book and, of course, it is one to a hymn again! (Can’t stop/won’t stop with the songs!) This illustrated version of Silent Night is a new favorite for us and I am crazy about it.
