When Spring comes around I am always SUPER ready for sunshine and foliage. And, of course, no Spring celebration would be complete without some beautiful books to help celebrate. The 15 picture books below are all wonderful choices for Springtime reads. They feature everything

Do Not Rake Your Garden in a Party Dress by Kelly Pousette and Aimee Bissonette- In this story a young girl is hosting a Spring picnic, but a bit of fun chaos ensues when the Spring winds lift her up in her party dress and send her twirling. This one is darling.
After the Rain by Rebecca Koehn and Simone Krüger- This story addresses sharing and compromise in such a fun way as two children find themselves battling it out for the same after rain puddles to play in. Perfect for a rainy, Spring day.
In a Garden by Tim McCanna and Aimee Sicuro- A beautiful book that highlights a community garden as it is planted and then as it grows. I adore it.
Hide-and-Seek Ladybugs by Paul Bright and Jacob Souva- This one is a board book that tis so joyful and is a big hit in our home. It is the story of the difficulties that ladybugs face when playing hide-and-seek and the surprise ending that demonstrates teamwork is sure to delight.
The Hat Who Was Left Behind by Céline Lamour-Crochet and Feridun Oral- This is a story about a beloved straw hat that is left behind at a park and then has a few experiences of it’s own before a Springtime surprise wakes it up in the beginning of Summer. Sweet and sentimental, this one is a gem.
Thank You, Garden by Liz Garton Scanlon and Simone Shin- This book features another community garden and I love it’s focus on friendships and teamwork that grow in this garden as well as produce.
Seeds by Carme Lemniscates- A beautiful tribute to seeds, the life they hold and the journeys they take. I also like how they threw in figurative “seeds of kindness” at the end.
Stay, Little Seed by Cristiana Valentini and Philip Giordano- This one is a memorable story for young and old alike about letting go and trying the new. It’s one I won’t soon forget.
Felix After the Rain by Dunja Jogan- This one is a thought-provoking story about a boy named Felix and the joy that comes when his sadness that he’s been carrying around is finally released. Such a good one for teaching emotional awareness.
In the Garden by Emma Giuliani- Who doesn’t love oversized books?! This large format picture book is full of flaps to lift and nonfiction information about gardens and how things grow. It has beautiful design and is fun to peruse.
The Honeybee by Kirsten Hall and Isabelle Arsenault – This book is gorgeous and it teaches about the vital role that bees play in our world. What’s not to love?!
Green on Green by Dianne White and Felicita Sala- This book features all four seasons in such a lovely and lyrical way. It’s one that is perfect for reading over and over again.
Hundred Feet Tall by Benjamin Scheuer and Jemima Williams- You can sing to this one because the text is song lyrics. It features a bunny family and a growing tree and is a beautiful metaphor for all that grows.
Goodnight, Veggies by Diana Murray and Zachariah OHora- This one is oodles of fun. It is packed with food puns and is a great bedtime story of the Springtime, or any time!
The Seedling That Didn’t Want to Grow by Britta Teckentrup- I adore Britta’s books and I am thrilled to have this new favorite in our library. I couldn’t love it more.
