Confidence. It’s one of those things that everyone wants, yet can be tricky to define. It can be even trickier as a parent or caregiver to try and figure out how to help intentionally raise your children to be confident. In my personal opinion, positive affirmations and expressions of love are two very solid ways to help children build confidence.
Positive affirmations are statements that we can tell ourselves out loud or in our inner dialogue to route our thoughts to pathways that are empowering and enabling. Changing the way we think and believing the best about ourselves helps us have confidence to try the new and “give things our all”.
As a parent or caregiver we have a fabulous opportunity of positive influence for children. Giving them our support, letting them know that we believe in them and teaching them that they are worthy and loved are very powerful things. It gives children a support system of confidence to hear that those they look up to have confidence in them.
And, good news, there just happens to be dozens and dozens of books that are great at both positive affirmations and expressions of love. Below is a list of some of our favorites.
