As we head into the end of March it is looking like I may be spending a whole string of days all at home with my kiddos. Honestly, it presents it’s challenges with keeping them entertained, but I also see it as a wonderful bonding opportunity for us. To prepare and keep things inside fun I created a “bucket list” of sorts filled with 50 simple ideas for indoor activities.
While creating this list I focused on things that can be done inside, are simple enough that they need little to no explanation, require little to no prep and involve supplies that are generally found on hand. A tall order, but I am so pleased with the list I created.
Of course we won’t be staying inside every day. We will have outdoor time in our yard at least once a day and there are several outdoor areas nearby that we can visit and still practice “social distancing”. However, I focused on indoor activities for this list so that is also handy for rainy days inside, snow days and more. Sometimes you just need some new ideas for indoor activities, am I right?!
With many of us looking at oodles of time indoors with young children I thought that perhaps many of you would find it useful. I am sharing it right now free of charge for personal use. Print it off, put it up and give it a go! You can color it or leave it black and white, it’s up to you. Also, I included some blank sections so that you can copy off as many as you need and fill them in with your own indoor activity ideas.
The idea is that you put the section of the house with the door on the bottom and then build up each level of the house as you complete the activity strips. When you are done you can put the roof on your super tall house of indoor activities. We will be putting ours on the wall with painters tape. I hope this helps time inside become more of a fun, bonding experience and helps beat boredom and restlessness.
