I have noticed throughout my life that music has a big impact on my mood and my mood has a big influence on the music I want to listen too. In fact, I have playlists on my iPod that are organized based off of moods such as my “pick-me-up” playlist for times when I feel a bit blue and my “happy-go-lucky” playlist for the joyful times. I feel that in this way my music is more customized to my life and my needs and through this process so many songs have come to have a real sentimental meaning for me.
I have also observed that my children are not immune to the powerful effect of music. The type of music that I play in the background of our lives has a big influence on the environment in my home. Since having children and since learning this I have been more aware of the type of music that I turn on, especially during playtime with my toddlers. My preferences on a day-to-day basis usually consist mainly of two types of playlists. A calm, relaxing, nondescript playlist and a happy, uplifting and fun playlist. I choose between these two depending on what stage of the day we are in.

One of our absolute favorite albums lately for our “happy” playlist is Albo’s Music Room “Folk for Little Folk”. The mood it conveys is optimistic and easygoing. It is upbeat without adding extra crazy to our life and the songs are so much fun to sing along to. It’s the kind of music that makes you want to tap your foot along and the type of songs that get stuck in your head. (In the best way possible.) If I had to choose a favorite song or two I would say that my kid’s favorite song of his would be “Ooh, Magic (Banana Pudding Hat)” and mine would be “Goodbye, Goodbye, June Bug”. It is so incredibly nice to have another album in the mix that I love as much as my children. Thank you Albos!
