“The Doll Hospital” by Kallie George and Sara Gillingham
Pegs is a doll doctor at the doll hospital. When dolls need her services they ring her service bell and out she comes ready to assist. In this story her day starts slow and then soon patient after patient comes to get help. One needs help getting their stuffing back in and another even has a broken pull cord. Things get so busy that she has to call in doll nurses for backup help because even the best need help sometimes!
This book is positively darling. When I was young I remember playing doctor with dolls on more than one occasion so this book really rings true with me. My kiddos are now the ones playing doctor and they got the biggest kick out of this book too. Plus, the illustrations have a darling vintage charm and are just too cute.

DIY “Doll Doctor” Dr Kits
As mentioned above, we are “doll doctor” fans over here and this book does nothing but encourage that. However, after reading this book with my children I thought it would be fun to create a little DIY “doll doctor” kit so we could have the tools together to be better doll doctors just like Dr. Peg.
The kit was super easy to assemble. I used a “bento box” tupperware container because it had a couple little compartments that could all be closed up together. Inside I put some plastic tweezers, gauze bandages, bandage tape, band-aids (of course!) and q-tips. You can check your local dollar store, grocer store, or even your house for these items. Just keep in mind the age of the child using them and you are good to go. With a little imagination and this kit your child can help all the doll patients awaiting assistance in your home. Have fun!
