“Henry’s Bright Idea” by Lauren Bradshaw and Wednesday Kirwan
This book is delightful, simple, sweet, and unpretentious. The text has a slow easy feel to it with a plot that is sweet and rambling. In the beginning you are introduced to “The Walnut Society” which is a band of woodland animals that all have their own clubhouse in the woods. They are quite the proper little bunch and each has their own niche and talents. One day Henry forgets an idea that he had so he and Eleanor the bear go off in search for it. They do some birdwatching, nature exploring and have a picnic until a firefly finally reminds Henry what his idea was and he rushes to the clubhouse to get to work. The whole thing makes me want to go spend a lazy afternoon outside with a picnic.
The illustrations are darling. They add to the proper and woodland feel to the book and there are so many that I think would look cute framed and hung up in a nursery. One especially fun thing about this book is that it is a story created for a line of stuffed animals by the author Lauren Bradshaw. The characters in the “Walnut Society” are the characters that she sews up. They are look absolutely beautiful and special. The “Walnut Society” is definitely a fun addition to add to your library.
