“Little Penguins” by Cynthia Rylant and Christiansan Robinson
There is magic in the first snowfall of winter. It feels fresh and new and brings promises of cozy fireplaces and holiday joy. Every year when the first snow falls we celebrate in our home with the fireplace, christmas music, and hot coco. Like I said, its magical. I believe in it and apparently so do these little penguins.
This story starts where five little penguins notice snowflakes falling outside their window. They get excited and prepare with mittens, scarves, and boots to go outside and explore. They enjoy the wonder of the oncoming winter and then head inside for some warm cookies and sippies. ) That’s right, sippies! So cute for little bookworms!) Everything about this book is simple and charming. Christian’s illustrations are full of wonderful color and texture, but in a minimalistic and fresh way. The text is in a large font and includes very phrases and sentences making this a book that all readers will enjoy both young and old.
