We love Easter bunny and baby chick books at Easter time, but we also love our Christian books about the Savior and His Resurrection. They are a wonderful tool for teaching my children about the true meaning of Easter and are beautiful reminders of the miracle that we celebrate on Easter Day. Below are some of our favorites Christian books about Easter and we hope you enjoy them like we do!

Picture Books
“Easter” by Gail Gibbons- This book is beautifully done and is a wonderful introduciton to the holiday. It starts with a summary of the last week of Jesus and his resurrection then ends with some popular ways that people celebrate Easter.
“The Joy of Easter” by Precious Moments and Jamie Calloway- This beautiful book goes through a standard, Christian Easter Day and ends with a lovely metaphor of a butterfly to explain the Ressurrection to children.
“The Story of Jesus (Little Golden Book)” by Jane Werner Watson and Jerry Smith- This beautiful classic is a wonderful summary of the Saviors life according to the Bible day includes the story of the Resurrection.
“The Tale of Three Trees” retold by Angela Elwell Hunt and Tim Jonke- This beloved tale is more popular as a Christmas book, but I think it makes a fantastic book for Easter as well because of the tree that is made into the cross.
“That Grand Easter Day!” by Jill Roman Lord and Alessia Trunfio- This book is just lovely. It tells the story of Easter by focusing on the tomb and how it was found empty and Jesus was risen. It is told in a “build-upon” story format and the illustrations are so vibrant and wonderful.
“He is Risen: Rocks Tell the Story of Easter” Created by Patti Rokus- This is a powerful retelling of the last week of the Savior’s life as well as his death and resurrection. Each illustration is done with rocks and is so simple yet impactful. A favorite for sure!
Board Books:
“The Easter Story” by Patricia A. Pingry (Author), Mary Ann Utt- This one may be my favorite. It is another beautiful summary of the Savior’s Resurrection and wonderful why we celebrate Easter. The text is simple enough for little bookworms and the illustrations have won me over.
“Sunrise, Easter Surprise!” by Hannah C. Hall- This short and sweet board book is all about the first Easter morning. It has darling illustrations and shows all the animals and the world rejoicing because the Savior is risen.
“What Is Easter?” by Michelle Medlock Adams and Amy Wummer- This book highlights popular and fun Easter traditions like Easter egg hunts, but ends with a gentle reminder about the Savior and be why we really celebrate.
“God Bless Our Easter” by Hannah C. Hall and Steve Whitlow- This is a sweet Springtime Easter book that is perfect for extra tiny bookworms. It doesn’t talk about the Resurrection, but it talks about God’s love for us.
“Jesus Loves Me” by Laura Logan- I love this one! It isnt strictly an Easter book but is an illustrated book of the lyrics to the familiar song “Jesus’s Loves Me”. It is definitely fitting for Eastertime and is so sweet.
“The Story of Easter” illustrated by Helen Dark- This bright and bold board book tells the story of Easter (including some of the last events of the Savior’s life) for the littlest bookworms. We love Helen’s work and this book is no exception.
