Ah, June! We LOVE June! June is the beginning of endless summer days, outdoor fun, lemonade stands and so much more. Honestly, June is one of my absolute favorite months of the year. I love spending time outside and encourage my kiddos to get outside to play for at least a few minutes every day. I believe that kids grow best with a hearty and regular dose of sunshine. I’m even the one encouraging them to head out to the yard in bare feet because there is something extra wonderful about feeling the grass in-between your toes. I don’t think it will ever get old for me.
That is why when I was compiling our list for books about June I decided to go heaviest on the themes of Summer and imagination/unplugging. In the Summer section you will find books that feature “Summer classics” such as watermelon as well as some fun books that feature the great outdoors.

In the Imagination and unplugging section you will find books that highlight ways we can use our imagination to go on adventures as well as simple activity ideas (such as ways to play with cardboard boxes) that are easy and fun in the summer months and encourage screen-free fun. Honestly, a lot of the books in the Summer list and the imagination/unplugging list are interchangeable, but that just makes it more awesome right?! In fact, they are so interchangeable that on the printable list I combined those two categories.
The last topic of “fathers” was chosen because for us Father’s Day is in the month of June. They are a few of our favorite books that celebrate fathers and we are happy to include them in this list. We hope that you enjoy this list as much as we do as well as the sunshine headed your way!
