“Playground” by Mies Van Hout
Have you ever gone somewhere only to learn that the real adventure was in the journey and not the destination? That is what happens with these children when they decide to head down to their local playground. Along the way, through their vivid imaginations, they have all kinds of fun adventures. They jump form cloud to cloud, find their way through a maze of caves, and even manage to sneak past a sleeping monster.
The illustrations in this book are unlike anything I have really seen and I love them for their uniqueness. They are bright and bold and full of watercolor delight and white space to air it out. One of the most special parts of this book is that it is a finger maze book. However, unlike traditional finger maze books that have a specific trial for a child’s finger to follow, this trail is open ended. This leaves the child in control to create their own adventure and to employ some imagination of their own. A beautiful creative book to add to your library.
