Not too long ago I shared my daughters canopy nook that I put together for her and ever since then I have been planing a nook for my son and I am excited to finally reveal the outcome to you! I am so pleased with how it turned out and I am so thrilled that my little guy loves it every bit as much as I do.
I wanted it to feel airy and clean, but I also wanted it to be bright and playful. My little guy is always bursting with energy and up for a great time and I wanted his reading space to reflect that. That is why I choose to go with a monotone theme doubled up with a plethora of rainbow “pops” of color. I love the combination of rainbow meets black and white and it was so much fun to put together.
I knew I wanted to feature a teepee for him to read in and I had my eye out for just the right one. I looked through dozens and dozens of black and white teepees before I spotted this one from Tnees Teepees. I instantly knew it was the one and was beyond thrilled when they agreed to collaborate with me and send one my way. I love it for so many reasons: clean design, alternating stripes, quality canvas, simple set-up, sturdy poles and wonderfully thought out/strong structure. It was everything I was hoping for and more and my little guy is already wanting to take his naps and read in there. Success!
Next, the obvious addition was loads of colorful books. I had so much fun picking out an assortment of colorful covers and books that my little guy loves. I added some wall decor from target and a superhero cape, but I still felt like something was missing. Then I remembered The Jam Tart which has my current favorite alphabet design. They have some new garland kits that allow you to customize your garland with your own sayings out of their darling letters. Again, the quality isn’t to be beat and the only problem I had was settling on a phrase out of the millions of options I had. I choose “love to read” for now, for obvious reasons, but I may try switching it out from time-to-time with the other letters in the kit. Why not? I think they added that perfect final touch to the nook.
I was thrilled with the results of this set-up, but after some thought I decided to try the garland in the space above the nook. I thought that it would be easier for my little guy to get his books of his shelves that way and that maybe it would stand-out a bit more up there. I am so glad that I did! I love it up in the corner just as much as I did on the shelves, but for functionality purposes I have decided to keep it higher. It also makes the whole corner feel like one big book party. And y’all know how we love a book party over here. It makes my heart so happy to see my little guy using and loving this space and I am so excited for all the book adventures waiting for him to experience here.
