“The Christms Star From Afar” by Natalie Ard and Nativity with Chrsitmas Tradition
This year my toddler is 3 years old and he is understanding Christmas better than ever and it is making the holidays so much more magical. It is my favorite time of year and I am thrilled that it is his as well. This year I went on a search for a nativity that could be dedicated to him and his little sister. I wanted one that would be sturdy enough that I could let them be a little hands on with it and engage, but I also wanted one that was beautiful enough that I would love having it up in our home as a permanent Christmas decoration. I was so excited when I discovered this beautiful nativity from A Star from Afar because it fit the bill in every way and more. It is stylish and my kiddo loves moving the characters around in the nativity. They were kind enough to send me this set free of charge and I am so excited to share my honest thoughts about it.
What really makes this set special though is that it comes with a tradition that you can implement in your home to teach the Christmas Story and to help count down to Christmas. This is especially great for us over here because everyday my little guy asks if it is Christmas day yet or if it is still just Christmas Time. The tradition/game is that morning of advent you hide the star in a new location in your home for your children to find when they wake up. Once they wake up they place the three wise men by the star and there they remain until the star is moved to a new location the next day and then the wise men follow after to the same location. This helps mimic the journey that the Wisemen take in the Christmas Story to follow the star to Christ.
Then, to make this set even more wonderful, there is a beautiful book that comes with it to introduce the Christmas Story and the tradition/game of hiding the star. Swoon! It is all packed away in a beautiful gift-worthy box that you can use at the end of the season to store and protect your set until next year. Also, I have to mention that I love how the star has a small elastic loop on top so that you can hang it in your different locations if you desire. Below it is hanging from its first spot in our home, the Christmas tree. It just seemed fitting. Do you spy the three wiremen “following it”? Love!
